Some Honourable Sentiments

I was finishing off July 7th Similarities Part II the other day (which is incidentally not about 9/11) and I thought about how publicity and media coverage/behaviour of celebrities affects normal, everyday people. So I decided that I would look to see what inspiration I could find from my heroes when it comes to the subject of politics. I decided, being a massive fan and buyer of music, to share some lyrics which I think proves that not everybody is willing to accept the blindfold being offered by the Government. Maybe it's slightly off-topic but sometimes I like to get down my random thoughts on paper/computer.

So here's a couple I picked out.

'No ones gonna take me alive,
The time has come to make things right.
You and I must fight for our rights.
You and I must fight to survive.'

Matt Bellamy.

'When the Zetas fill the skies,
It's just our leaders in disguise.
Fully loaded satellites
Will conquer nothing but our minds.'

Matt Bellamy.

'Cries of anger, lies for power,
Fighting for nothing
Is what we were born for.'

Matt Tuck.

'Don't wanna be an American Idiot,
Don't want a nation that doesn't do media.
Can you hear the sound of hysteria.
The subliminal mindless America.'

Billie-Joe Armstrong.

American Idiot
Green Day

'I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies.
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives.

Hear the drum pounding out of time,
Another protester has crossed the line.
To find,
The money's on the other side.'

Billie-Joe Armstrong.

Holiday

American Idiot

Before i post this last one, I would like it to be made perfectly clear that I detest this artist, but even so lyrically there are important messages.

'Come along follow me as I lead through the darkness
As I provide just enough spark that we need to proceed
Carry on, give me hope, give me strength
Come with me and I won't steer you wrong
Put your faith and your trust as I guide us through the fog
To the light at the end of the tunnel
We gonna fight, we gonna charge, we gonna stomp, we gonna march
Through the swamp, we gonna mosh through the marsh.

Rebel with a rebel yell, raise hell we gonna let em know
Stomp, push, shove, mush, F*** Bush, until they bring our troops home.

Maybe we can reach Al-Qaeda through my speech
Let the president answer a higher anarchy
Strap him with an Ak-47, let him go, fight his own war
Let him impress daddy that way
No more blood for oil, we got our own battles to fight on our own soil
No more psychological warfare, to trick us to thinking that we ain't loyal
If we don't serve our own country, we're patronizing a hero
Look in his eyes its all lies
The stars and stripes, they've been swiped, washed out and wiped
And replaced with his own face, Mosh now or die
If I get sniped tonight you know why,
Cause I told you to fight.

As we set aside our differences
And assemble our own army
To disarm this Weapon of Mass Destruction
That we call our President, for the present
And Mosh for the future of our next generation
To speak and be heard
Mr. President, Mr. Senator
Do you guy's hear us...hear us...'
